She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Animal Science with a pre-veterinary emphasis and minor in chemistry. She graduated in 2015 from St. George's University in Grenada, West Indies, with her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. She is married to Shannan Barnes and they have two beautiful girls--Charleigh age 7 years and Ryleigh age 5 years.  Dr. Barnes established her practice in January 2023 taking over the practice formerly know as Shaw Veterinary Clinic founded in 1983 by Drs. Roger & Donna Shaw.

  • Lesley Woodard

Lesley greets you with a smile each time you visit with your pet or call. She performs many valuable tasks in our office in addition to answering your questions and keeps our office functioning well. She handles the scheduling of appointments and assists the doctors with the care of your pets while staying at our hospital. Most importantly, she keeps our office running smoothly. She recently completed an online program to receive her Veterinary Receptionist Certificate of Excellence. She shares her home with her dogs Molly and her Boxer Bender. We are fortunate to have Lesley at the helm of our practice.

  • Micayla Corbitt

Micayla Corbitt joined our veterinary staff the first of  May 2021. She has a compassionate nature with experience as a CNA. She has been around animals most of her life and is an avid horseback rider. She is licensed for rescue and rehabilitation of wildlife and has had a life-long ambition to work in a veterinary hospital. She assists the doctors treating sick patients and is learning the front desk tasks under Lesley's training. You may see her either helping to admit your pet into the hospital for treatment, assisting the doctor with your pet's medical treatments and surgeries, or assisting Lesley at the front desk.. Micayla is certainly an asset to our team..

  • Chastity Alexander

Chastity Alexander comes to us from Munford, Tennessee where she worked at a veterinary hospital for 10 years as a receptionist, helped with treating hospitalized animals, and assisted the doctors. Chastity has two daughters, a husband, and most important of all, a dog named Smokey.  Smokey loves to chase and play with grasshoppers and get into trouble. Chastity helps in all areas of our hospital from the front desk to lending a hand treating sick patients but her primary tasks involve answering the phone and scheduling appointments. When you visit our office, be sure to welcome her to our staff.

  • India Mott

We want to welcome India Mott as a new staff member for Barnes Veterinary Hospital.  India began working in November of 2022 and has been a very quick learner.  India graduated from Highland High School in 2012 then continued her education at Ozarka graduating in 2013 with her CNA degree.  After graduation, she worked in several human health arenas including Eagle Crest Nursing & Rehab, Elite Home Health, and Batesville Hospital.  She has a 5-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old son along with her Chihuahua Cookie pictured here. India assists the doctor with patient care and surgical procedures.  She also performs blood analysis testing for the sick patients and pre-operative blood work for surgery patients. Please welcome India when you visit our office.

Testimonials

  • ""The staff at Shaw Veterinary Clinic are consistently outstanding and professional. I have used them for over forty years and have never once had a bad experience. The current staff, led by Lesley Ford, are very friendly, and knowledgeable, and walk each pet parent through their treatment plan. When I call to schedule an appointment they are always friendly and based on availability, get me in as soon as possible. We are blessed to have Shaw Veterinary Clinic taking care of our pets in our community.""
    John Kunkel, Evening Shade, Arkansas
  • "I have dealt with Shaw Veterinary Clinic for over 25 years with 3 different puppy dogs. The owners and staff members have always been very thoughtful, caring, and helpful. Lesley and JoDawn always greet me with a smile and answer questions I might have. If they don't know the right answer, they will get Dr. Roger or Dr. Donna to answer my concerns that I might have."
    Joann Dean--Cherokee Village, AR
  • "Moving to Arkansas 5 years ago with no family or friends for company, we rescued 2 needy chihuahuas and were fortunate enough to discover Shaw Veterinary Clinic! The first voice and face we were greeted with was a gal named Lesley and I knew instantly that we had come to the right place! The rest of the staff didn't disappoint either. Everyone is friendly and they genuinely care about our animals whether they poop on the table or snap at someone while getting their nails trimmed. I trust them when they tell me what my little guys need. Thank you Shaw Veterinary Clinic for a super staff and 2 caring doctors to keep our boys running!! We appreciate all that you do."
    Connie Clark---Cherokee Village, Arkansas
  • "I cannot say enough about the doctors and staff at Shaw Veterinary Clinic. We have been using them for years for my mother's dog and for our cats. I have never seen a group of staff who cared as much about their clients and the clients' people. The professionalism and care are top-notch. I would not take my fur babies anyplace other than to see the folks at Dr. Shaw's office. My pets go there for all of their wellness checks, doctor visits, cat claw trimming, boarding, etc. Thank you so much to Drs. Shaw and Shaw, Leslie, and the entire team. I appreciate your love and care for my fur babies."
    Angie Gage--Cherokee Village, Arkansas
  • "Love the people at this office! We have 5 Great Danes and our momma dog had 2 large litters. Everyone in this office has always gone above and beyond to care for our babies. Very accommodating to our schedules, especially bringing in 14 puppies at one time. I’ve called after hours, Lesley, and Dr. Donna, about a concern and was given the patience and compassion the situation required. Being a pet parent can be hard sometimes, but this office takes the extra step to care for our babies as their own. Thanks to all at Shaw’s for loving our babies and treating us with respect and understanding anytime we call!"
    Edith Elliott--Highland, Arkansas
  • "We had a huge health scare with our Sweet Winston. On Friday he was soo sick, we were scared we might lose him. A huge thank you to Dr. Donna Novak Shaw and Dr. Roger Shaw at Shaw Veterinary Clinic. They took such good care of him and got him feeling so much better."
    Deanna King S.
  • "We have used Dr. Shaw since we moved here in 2017. They have always taken great care of our kitties and our daughter's dog. Anytime we've needed to get our pets in, they are quick to schedule or work you in, in an emergency. Their prices are quite reasonable and their services are superb. I cannot imagine having a better team for my pets. I know they love them and care for them like they were their very own."
